NFL Roundup: Denver Narrowly Beat Struggling Jets in Defensive Battle

In a low-scoring contest this weekend, the Denver Broncos managed to secure a close victory over the winless New York Jets. Quarterback Bo Nix threw an early touchdown pass and kicker Wil Lutz provided the late decisive three-pointer to secure the ugly win.

Dominant Performance Seals Game

Even with registering nine sacks versus Jets quarterback Justin Fields, the Broncos found themselves trailing 11-10 following conceding a two-point play in the second half. Interestingly, the Jets could only produce a mere 82 offensive yards throughout the entire game.

Nix, who completed 19 of 30 attempts for 174 yards, led a critical 12-play, 65-yard possession that ended with Lutz's 27-yard field goal with just over five minutes left.

Record Struggles for Jets Offense

Despite their dismal offensive display, the Jets maintained possession with a chance to drive for a potential victory. But Fields was tackled on fourth-and-eight from the Denver 44 when head coach Aaron Glenn chose to attempt the conversion instead of sending out kicker Nick Folk for a difficult kick.

The Jets quarterback struggled throughout, completing just 9 of 17 attempts for 45 yards. New York finished with minus-10 net yards passing, the lowest in any game since 1998.

"The aerial attack was completely absent," Glenn commented after the contest.
